It’s a Choice!

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

  1. Oh yes, and oh, dear… My poor mother fell last week, spent some days in hospital and now has moved on to a skilled nursing facility. She is miserable and unhappy – and says so often and loudly.

Now, the challenge – to help her move to a point where she can make even the smaller decisions for happiness in a difficult situation. All of us think we can choose for happiness – until the choice is real, and harder.

  2. I can relate with what your mother is going through. A few months after I got married I got hospitalized for 3 months. I was so weak that I almost died. During that time I almost lost my faith in God, and went through a period of depression. Thank God for my wife, Jojang, who stood by me during those difficult moments.

I haven’t really fully recovered physically since that happened 9 years ago, and I still have bouts of depression from time to time. This blog is actually for me a form of therapy – a way of overcoming my feelings of unhappiness and depression.

We will say a prayer for your mom. God bless!
