1. Start very small.

2. Do only one change at a time.

3. Be present and enjoy the activity (don’t focus on results).

4. Be grateful for every step you take.

  1. That pretty much wraps it up. 😉

I do think the hardest is focusing on the action and not the result. I’m convinced not doing that is the cause of much of what’s called “writer’s block”. I’m in a position to have to write “on deadline” for the first time, and if I focus on getting the piece done rather than on doing it, I can sit and stew forever!

  2. Living in the present moment and just enjoying what we’re doing seems a simple thing to do. But in practice, I have to agree, is quite challenging, especially when we’re faced with a deadline. A deadline, though, is suppose to motivate us to finish our projects on time. But, in my own experience, focusing too much on the deadline could make us too anxious, so much so that we end up thinking too much about the project rather than doing something about it! The key, I guess, is to do something about the project every day, no matter how small it is and be focused on what we’re doing (Steps 1 & 2). And if we could enjoy that, so much the better (Step 3)… 🙂
